Helm can be curious and playful or focused and tasked oriented. He is dedicated to pleasing during every activity. It doesn’t matter if he’s being goofy playing with his favorite blue ball, standing on the grooming table, or working as a demonstration dog in obedience classes. His top priority is following the rules and pleasing. He leaves no doubt he belongs in the sporting dog group when he showcases his drive and love participating in performance events such as Dock Diving, Obedience, Lure coursing or field work. His softer side shines when he makes therapy dog visits with his mom at out-patient care centers, colleges and universities.

Helm shares his home life with seven golden retrievers and the occasional litter of puppies. His personality is neither alpha or submissive but best described as a blend of cheerful confidence with bursts of joy. He’s a loyal, protective dog and very inquisitive. He calmly investigates new things, seldom unsettled by changes in his environment or routine. He approaches other dogs and puppies with respectful curiosity before deciding his next step - which is often an invitation to play.

A patient traveler, Helm enjoys joining the family on road- trips, traveling in his crate to vacation destinations by the lake. If asked, Helm might tell you swimming in the lake and hiking with his family is one of his favorite pastimes… second only to cuddling on the couch
